Epiphone Les Paul Standard '50s Heritage Cherry Sunburst (2024)

The Les Paul is an iconic guitar used by countless guitar heroes over the years, and this Epiphone Les Paul Standard '50s in Heritage Cherry Sunburst is a proper powerhouse. Part of Epiphone’s highly acclaimed “Inspired by Gibson” Collection, this Les Paul Standard '50s Figured in a stunning Heritage Sunburst lovingly recreates the feel and tone of the 1950s-era Les Pauls. This example was built in March 2024 at Epiphone's dedicated Qingdao factory in China, where modern production standards continue to deliver exceptional craftsmanship, premium wood selection, and superb overall build quality. When properly set up, these Inspired by Gibson models are absolute slayers that comfortably rival far more expensive instruments in both playability and tone.

Having bought, sold, and played countless Fenders, Gibsons, and Epiphones over the years, the "Inspired by Gibson" series stands right up there among my absolute favourites for value, build quality, and sheer playability. They deliver a proper Les Paul feel with rich, touch-sensitive vintage tones.

This particular instrument comes to me from a previous owner who is primarily an acoustic player. After buying it, he realised his heart remains with acoustic guitars, and as a result, this Les Paul was only played a handful of times.

This model is crafted with all the key ingredients you would expect: a solid mahogany body paired with a maple cap and a gorgeous, highly figured flame maple veneer that gives it the stunning looks of a far more expensive instrument. It features a mahogany neck with a historically accurate 1959 Rounded Medium C-profile and a long neck tenon for exceptional stability and added sustain. The fretboard features classic pearloid trapezoid inlays.

It is powered by a critically acclaimed pair of Epiphone ProBucker humbuckers, with a ProBucker 1 in the neck position and a slightly hotter ProBucker 2 in the bridge. Together with CTS potentiometers, Mallory Capacitors, era-appropriate '50s wiring, and gold Top Hat knobs with dial pointers, this setup delivers a beautifully balanced, dynamic tone in all three switch positions. The Kalamazoo-style headstock is equipped with Epiphone Vintage Deluxe tuners and a Graph Tech nut, ensuring rock-solid tuning stability and reliability.

Condition-wise, it is in virtually immaculate, mint condition. I have inspected it thoroughly on the bench and can find no marks, chips, or dents whatsoever, just the absolute lightest, most minor surface swirl marks from careful handling that are only visible under direct, angled light. It looks, feels, and plays like a brand-new guitar straight off the wall, but with all the workshop fine tuning already taken care of for you.

As with all instruments that pass through my hands at Sosbro Guitar Co., this guitar has just undergone a thorough professional refurbishment and setup to ensure it arrives stage and studio ready and plays to its best ability. Full setups in most shops are expensive, and because of the high cost of paying a guitar tech, very few new guitars off the shelf or second-hand guitars ever get a proper going over before being sold. I have personally already done the hard work for you. During its service, I removed the old strings, cleaned the fretwire, polished the frets, cleaned and tested all the volume/tone pots, and polished the entire guitar. Finally, it was restrung with a fresh set of D’Addario XL Nickel Wound strings (9-42 gauge), tuned, and dialed in with a comfortable medium-low action that makes it an absolute joy to play.

Due to the extensive workshop setup, this guitar genuinely plays better than when it was sold brand new. I can assure you, if this becomes your new axe, you will not be disappointed!
